Ingredients
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil, divided
- 5 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh oregano
- 3 28 oz cans plum tomatoes
- 3 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes
- 3 1/2 c. water
- 6 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 lb sweet Italian sausage links
- 1 lb uncooked meatballs
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oil in large stock pot for 30 seconds
Add onion and saute for 3 min. Add 1tbsp basil,
garlic, oregano
Saute 1 min.
Add tomatoes, water, sugar & salt
Bring sauce to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer,
add sausage & meatballs
Simmer for 3 - 4 hours, stirring to make sure nothing sticks to the pot.
Remove meats to a plater.
Stir in remaining basil, Taste & add salt
Serve over pasta, adding meats & topping
serve wit Parmesan
