Ingredients
- 6 inches stick cinnamon broken
- 1 tsp whole allspice
- 1 tsp whole cloves
- 10 cups apple juice (2 1/2 quarts)
- 1/3 cup honey or packed brown sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Tie broken cinnamon, allspice and cloves in a spice bag. In 4-6 qt crock cooker combine spice bag, apple juice, honey or brown sugar.
Cover. cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Remove spice bag and discard. serve in mugs with cinnamon stick stirrer.
Making a spice bag--removing the whole spices and fruit peel is quick when they are bundled.
Cut a double thickness of cheesecloth into a 6 or 8 inch square. Then place whole spices and peels in center. Bring up the corners of cheesecloth and tie with a clean string.
