Ingredients
- 3 1/2 Cups diced red potatoes
- 1/3 Cup celery
- 1/3 Cup chopped onion
- 1-2 Cups cooked chopped ham (ham steak works great)
- 3 1/2 Cups water
- 2 Tablespoons chicken bouillon granules or paste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 5 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
Preparation
Step 1
1. Fill a stockpot with the water, potatoes, ham, onion and celery. Bring to a boil, cook on medium heat until potatoes are done (10-15 minutes), then stir in the bouillon, salt & pepper.
2. While potatoes are cooking in a separate sauce pan melt the butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour and cook stirring constantly until thick (about 1 minute). Add the milk, stirring constantly so no lumps form. Continue stirring over medium-low heat until thick (4-5 minutes)
3. Stir the thickened milk mixture in to the stockpot. Stir and heat through. Enjoy!
