Bow Ties with Sausage Cream

Ingredients

  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • 1 # loose sweet sausage
  • 1/2 tsp. dried red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 C. diced onions
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 (28oz) Italian dice tomatoes, drained & coarsely chopped
  • 1 1/2 C. whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (12oz) pk. bowtie noodles

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oil in heavy skillet over med. heat and add sausage & pepper flakes. Cook until sausage no longer pink, stirring frequently. Add the onion & garlic to skillet and cook until onions are tender & sausage is light brown. Stir & cook for 7 minutes. Add tomatoes, cream & salt. Simmer until mixture thickens about 4 minutes.
*Can prepare this mixture 1 day prior, cover tightly and refrigerate.
Cook pasta until tender, stirring to prevent sticking. Drain. Bring sauce to a simmer and add pasta and cook until pasta is heated thru & sauce thickens.
