Cherry Nut Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup shorting
  • 12-14 chopped Maraschino cherries
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice

Preparation

Step 1

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shorting, then add cherries and nuts.

Combine liquid ingredients, add liquid to dry ingredients. Stir only till flour is moistened.

Pour into a greased 9x5x3" loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
