Asparagus Casserole

Ingredients

  • 3 large cans of chopped asparagus
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk or cream
  • 6 slices of American cheese - broken up
  • Breadcrumbs (or Panko)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Drain asparagus and place in 9 x 13 casserole dish
2. Melt butter, mix with flour until smooth
3. Add 2 cups of milk or cream
4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened
5. Add cheese and stir until melted
6. Pour over asparagus - cover lightly with crumbs
7. Dot with butter
8. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hr until bubbly
