Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow corn meal
  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup soft shortening

Preparation

Step 1

Mix all ingredients together. Beat until smooth but don't overbeat. Pour into 8-inch pan that has been lightly greased.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 425 degrees.
