Ingredients

    cup yellow corn meal

  • 1

    cup sifted all-purpose flour

  • ¼

    cup sugar

  • ½

    tsp salt

  • 4

    tsp baking powder

  • 1

    egg

  • 1

    cup milk

  • ¼

    cup soft shortening

Directions

Mix all ingredients together. Beat until smooth but don't overbeat. Pour into 8-inch pan that has been lightly greased. Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 425 degrees.
