Ingredients
- 1 lb. Mushrooms
- 1 Med. Onion, sliced
- 1/2 C Butter
- 1/4 C Flour
- 2 C Milk
- 1 C Light Cream
- 3/4 lb. Sharp Cheddar
- 1/8 t Hot Sauce
- 2 t Soy Sauce
- 1 t Salt
- 1/2 t Pepper
- 3 pkg. Frozen, French cut green beans
- 5 oz. Water Chestnuts, sliced
- 1/2 - 3/4 C Toasted, slivered blanched almonds
Preparation
Step 1
1.Saute mushrooms and onions in butter until tender. Add flour and cook until smooth. Transfer to double boiler.
2.Add milk and light cream. Stir over boiling water until thickened. Add cheese, hot sauce, soy sauce, S & P. Stir until cheese is melted.
3.Cook green beans until crisp tender. Drain. Mix with sauce. Add water chestnuts. Pour into casserole dish.
4.Toast almonds in microwave ¼ C + 1 T butter on high for 4-6 minutes. Sprinkle green beans with almonds.
5.Bake 375 deg. 20 minutes. To Reheat: bake 35-40 minutes.
