Ingredients
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/4 c. cider vinegar
- 1/4 c. catsup
- 1/4 c. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. liquid smoke
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 T. + 1 tsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. red pepper
- 1/2 tsp. onion powder
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 T. vegetable oil
- 4 lb. well trimmed boneless beef brisket
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°. Combine water and mustard in a saucepan, mixing well. Let stand 10 minutes. Stir in next 12 ingredients. Bring to a boil; cook 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Line a 9x13x2-inch baking pan with a large piece of foil. Sprinkle both sides of brisket with salt and pepper; place in pan. Pour sauce over brisket; fold foil, sealing edges securely. Bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. To serve, slice across the grain in thin slices. Yield: 8 to 10 servings.
