Ingredients
- 3 pounds Macintosh apples, cored, peeled and sliced
- 3 cups cider
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
Preparation
Step 1
Boil apples and cider in large heavy saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer approximately 20 minutes or until apples are soft.
Stir in remaining ingredients, mix well. Simmer for 45 to 60 minutes until apples break down into a very thick sauce.
Cool just until warm, then puree in food processor or blender.
If consistency is too watery, return to sauce pan and simmer until thickened.
Cover and refrigerate. It will keep up to two months in the refrigerator.
