Grandma's Banana Bread | Heirloom Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t baking powder
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 T sour milk (to sour milk, add a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice to the milk)
  • 3 over-ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 dash salt

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a loaf pan.

Whisk together dry ingredients. In a mixer, cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and beat well. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour milk. Mix in the well-mashed bananas.

Bake for about 1 hour. It is done when a toothpick poked into the center of the bread loaf comes out clean.
