Ingredients
- 1 cup firmly packed golden
- brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- or margarine, softened
- 1 tablespoon orange rind,
- grated
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- dash of salt
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease cookie sheets. Beat brown sugar and butter in large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add orange rind, egg and vanilla; beat until creamy. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to sugar mixture. On well-floured surface, roll out 1/2 dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with floured cookie cutters.
Bake on prepared cookie sheets 12-15 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
