Gramma Roses Beet Pickles

Ingredients

  • 6 c sugar
  • 1&1/2 c water
  • 3 T pickling spice in cheesecloth bag
  • 3&1/2 c 5% vinegar
  • 5 cloves garlic per quart jar
  • Beets (blanched to remove outer skin)

Preparation

Step 1

Once beets have been blanched, cut them into approximately 1 inch cubes. Boil again until done.
Put into jars to 1/2 inch of top of sealer.


Syrup:
boil sugar, water, pickling spice, vinegar to make syrup. Fill jars with syrup till 1/2 inch of top of sealer.
Wipe rims and turn on tops till tight.
