Ingredients
- 1 round loaf of bread unsliced (dark or sourdough)
- 5 green onions chopped
- 6 cloves of garlic finely minced
- 2 tbs butter
- 8 oz cream cheese room temperature
- 2 cups sour cream
- 12 oz shredded cheddar cheese (or your choice)
- 1 8 oz jar or can non marinated artichokes
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350F. Cut top off bread and set aside. Scoop out the soft part of bread and reserve. In a skillet saute the green onion and garlic in the butter until softened. Saute at a lower heat and do not scorch. In a bowl add the cream cheese, softened garlic and onion, sour cream and cheddar cheese. Blend well. Drain the artichokes and chop. Fold into the cheese mixture. Fill the hollowed out bread with the cheese mixture. Replace the top and wrap bread in a double thickness of heavy duty aluminum foil. Bake for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. Remove foil and the top of bread loaf and serve.
Serve with cut up pieces of bread, french bread, crackers or bagel chips.
You can also toast up the pieces of chopped bread from the loaf and serve with the dip.
