Scalloped Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion,minced
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 c milk
  • 1/2 c cream
  • 1/4 lb sharp cheddar cheese,shredded
  • 5 medium potatoes,peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375
In a 2 quart saucepan over medium heat,melt butter
Add onion and cook until tender,about 5 mi
Stir in flour and salt until blended
Cook 1 min
Gradually stir in milk and cream and cook,stirring constantly until mixture bubbles and thickens slightly
Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 c cheese
In shallow 2 quart casserole arrange half of the potato slices
Pour half of the sauce over
Sprinkle with half of the remaining cheese
Repeat the layers
Sprinkle with paprika
Bake,covered for 15 min
Uncover and bake 15 min longer,or until potatoes are tender
