Homemade Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Crust:
  • 1/3 c Shortening
  • 1/3 c Butter
  • 2 c Flour
  • 1/3 c Boiling Water
  • 1/2 t Salt
  • 1/2 t Baking Powder
  • Filling:
  • 7 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 t Cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 T Butter
  • 3/4 c Sugar

Preparation

Step 1

To make crust:
1. Mix shortening, 1/3 c butter and flour
2. Add boiling water, salt and baking powder
3. Mix well
4. Separate into two balls, place between 2 sheets of wax paper and roll
5. Carefully place one rolled pastry into a pie pan which has been lightly sprayed with Pam
To make Filling:
6. Peel, core and slice apples
7. Lightly mix cinnamon and sugar withthe apples
8. Heap into pastry lined pie pan and dot with 1-1/2 T butter
9. Cover apples with second rolled pastry
10. Cut slits into top crust to allow steam to escape
11. Bake at 425* for 15 minutes then reduce temp to 350* and continue baking 45-60 minutes
