Orange Honey Pork Meatballs

Ingredients

  • For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • chile serrano or jalapeño, minced
  • For the Sauce
  • juice and zest of 1 orange
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped Cilantro

Preparation

Step 1


In a bowl, mix the pork, garlic, egg, serrano or jalapeño and lightly season with salt and pepper.
Using your hands, shape 10-12 meatballs similar to a small burger patty and set aside in the refrigerator.

In another bowl, combine the zest and orange juice, soy sauce, honey or agave and set aside.
In a sauté pan over medium high heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and cook meatballs for 2 minutes on one side.

Then flip over the meatballs, add the sauce, and scrape the bottom of the pan using a wood or rubber spoon. Cook for 2 more minutes and reduce the heat to medium low until meatballs are cooked through and sauce has thickened.
Add cilantro and serve immediately
