Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 oz. red food coloring
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and shortening, then add eggs. Add flour and milk, alternating. Blend in soda, salt, cocoa, color and vanilla. Bake in a 9x13 pan at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Do not over bake.
