Cranberry Cookies

These cranberry cookies are perfect for a autumn treat or holiday cookie exchange and are easy enough to enjoy baking with kids.

Ingredients
- COOKIES:
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature (no substitutes)
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- FROSTING:
- 1/3 cup butter (no substitutes)
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 - 4 tablespoons of water or warm milk
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cream butter and sugars until creamy. Add milk, egg, orange juice and mix well.
Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add to wet ingredients and mix well.
Fold in cranberries and nuts.
On a greased cookie sheet drop by tablespoonful 2 inches apart. Bake 12 -15 minutes or until olden brown.
Cool on wire rack.
FROSTING:
Heat butter in a saucepan over low heat until golden brown (about 5 minutes)
Cool for 2 minutes.
Transfer to a small mixing bowl. Add sugar and vanilla, mix well.
Beat in water, 1 tablespoon at a time until frosting reaches desired consistency.
