Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 8 oz dried dates, chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp margarine, softened
- 1 egg
- 2 3/4 cups regular flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation
Step 1
Put boiling water and dates into a medium bowl. In a large bowl, mix sugar, margarine, and egg. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and vanilla. Pour in the dates and water, add nuts and blend well.
Pour into three greased 8" x 3" loaf pans. Bake at 350 until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 40-45 minutes. Turn out on racks to cool.
