Red Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 large head red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 T. lard or butter
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 1/2 c. white vinegar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 med. yellow apples (peeled, cored and diced)

Preparation

Step 1

Put vinegar and lard or butter in large pan. Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil. Turn to simmer for 1 1/2-2 hours. Best if made the night before.
