German Apple Streusel Kuchen

It is the ultimate Kaffee and Kuchen Cake in Germany.

This uses the 3-2-1 dough Muerbetieg!


Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 300 g 2 cups flour
  • 200 g 1 Cup butter
  • 100 g 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder preferably Dr Oetker
  • Topping:
  • 5 big apples, cinnamon
  • For the Streusel (crumbles):
  • 200 g 1 cup flour, 200 g 1 cup butter, 200 g 1 cup
  • sugar

Preparation

Step 1

mix all ingredients for the dough until you get a smooth dough, you knead it until it has the consistency, it should not fall apart.
- wrap dough in foil and keep cool for at least 30 min
- peel apples, remove core and slice them, mix with cinnamon
- layer a baking tray or spring form with parchment paper or grease it thoroughly.
- gently press the dough into the form or tray about 1 inch thick.
- Place apples on top and for the streusel mix all ingredients and crumble them on apples.
- Bake in pre-heated oven for 20 min on 350 F (175C)
