CHEESE SCALLOP POTATOES

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed and peeled
  • Salt
  • 3 lbs baking potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 3 oz Gryere cheese, coarsely grated (about 3/4 cup)
  • Pinch red pepper
  • Black pepper
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375. In large saucepan combine 2 cups water with milk, garlic and ½ tsp salt. Add potatoes. Bring to boil over med-hi heat, stirring occ. Reduce heat to medium until tender, but firm.
Using slotted spoon transfer ½ potatoes to buttered 13 X 9 baking dish. Arrange in even layer. Sprinkle w/half cheese and red pepper; season w/salt and pepper. Repeat w/remaining potatoes and sprinkle w/remaining cheese. Pour cream evenly over top. Bake until golden and crisp, approx 40-45 min.
