Cornbread (Best)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tbs. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Water and a thin batter seems to me to be the key factor in having a crispy crust.
  • For sweet cornbread add 6 tbs. sugar.

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 450.
Mix all ingredients and pour into a cast iron pan or muffin pans that have been heated in hot oven with some oil.
