Autumn Pear Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 c all purpose flour
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/8 t nutmeg****
  • 1/2 c cold butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 c buttermilk
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 c finely chopped peeled ripe pears

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and soda, salt and nutmeg; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine the eggs, buttermilk and vanilla; stir into the flour mix just until moistened. Fold in pears.
Spoon into two greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 35-40 min or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 min before removing from pans to wire racks to cool.
