Italian Sausage and Pasta Bake

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups dried cavatelli or medium shell pasta
  • 12 oz. sweet Italian sausage links, cut into 3/4" pieces
  • 1 large green sweet pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 can (29 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. dried basil, crushed
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
  • 1 cup (4 oz.) shredded mozzarella cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Cook pasta according to package directions; drain.

Meanwhile, cook sausage and pepper in large skillet until no pink remains; drain. Stir in tomato sauce, basil, oregano and half of the cheese. Stir in pasta. Spoon mixture into 2 quart casserole.

Bake, covered, at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, 5 minutes more or until heated through. Serve with grated parmesan cheese, if desired.
