Supreme Clam Chowder

mmmm-mmmm good. Not just regular, run on the mill clam chowder. It also has crab and shrimp.

Ingredients

  • 4 potatoes
  • 5 pcs. bacon
  • 1 med. onion
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 qt. half/half
  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. marjoram
  • 1 T. basil leaves
  • 3 garlic bulbs, minced
  • 1 lg. crab
  • 1 lb. shrimp
  • 1 (10 oz.) clams
  • mozzarella cheese
  • cheddar cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Boil potatoes and let cool. cut bacon into pieces and fry, reserving bacon fat. Saute chopped onions and celery in 3 TB. bacon fat and 3 TB. butter. Add flour and enough cream to make a rue. In a large pot cut up potatoes, and rest of half/half, rue, salt, marjoram, basil, garlic, crab, shrimp, clams and butter. Let simmer until ready to eat. Put into bowls (extra special days, serve in bread bowls). Sprinkle mozzarella over chowder with cheddar in the center. Place in oven on broil until cheese melts. Garnish with paprika and parsley. Serve and enjoy
