Ingredients
- 1 can (14 1/2 oz) pitted tart cherries, undrained
- 1 cp sugar, divided
- 1/2 cp water
- 1 cp flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp grated lemon peel
- dash salt
- 1/3 cp milk
- 3 tblp melted butter
Preparation
Step 1
In large saucepan, combine the cherries with juice, 3/4 cp sugar and water. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer.
Meanwhile in a small bowl, combine flour, b.powder, lemon peel, salt and remaining sugar. Stir in milk and butter until moistened.
Drop by tablespoons onto simmering cherry mixture. Cover and simmer for 20 min.(do not lift cover while simmering)
