Southern Style Pulled Pork

Ingredients

  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 cup Heinz 57 sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 to 4 lb boneless pork shoulder, trimmed of excess fat
  • Onion rolls

Preparation

Step 1

Place onions, garlic, chili powder, heinz 57 sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke and salt and pepper in a slow cooker. Stir to combine. Add the pork. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or on high for 6 hours, until pork is falling apart. Shred the meat using two forks and keep warm. Taste sauce and adjust seasonings as needed. When ready to serve, spoon shredded pork and sauce over buns.
