Sausage Pizza Dip

This is my favorite appetizer to make for parties. Everyone loves it!

Ingredients

  • 1 Tblsp. Extra-virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 lb. bulk Italian sweet or hot sausage
  • 2/3 cup Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • Half of an Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 pinches of dried Oregano
  • 8 oz. Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce
  • 1 loaf Semolina bread, sliced
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced

Preparation

Step 1

In a medium skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Cook the sausage, breaking it up into little bits. Reduce the heat to medium and push the sausage to the sides of the pan, add the onion and garlic to the center and cook until tender, 6-8 minutes. Mix into the sausage and remove the pan from the heat.
Preheat broiler. Combine cream cheese with half of mozzarella and parm. Stir in the oregano and then fold in the sausage mixture. Spread into a casserole dish. Top with tomato sauce and the remaining cheese. Cover with foil and broil for 2 minute, then uncover and broil for 5 minutes. Serve with semolina bread.
