Ingredients
- 6 apples, peeled thinly sliced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar firmly packed
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- lemon juice
Preparation
Step 1
Combine the sugars, salt, cinnamon, cornstarch, and nutmeg and sprinkle over the apple slices. Stir the apples gently until they are well coated with the mixture. Place apples in layers in the pie shell. Dot with the butter and sprinkle with lemon juice. Cover with pie crust. Bake in a pre-heated 450 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and continue baking until done (45 to 60 minutes in all).
