Noodles Au Gratin

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • pinch pepper
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded Canadian Cheddar cheese
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • (half a 375 g package) medium noodles

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. until mixture just comes to a boil and thickens. Remove from heat. Add cheese; stir until melted. Add mushrooms. Keep warm. Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain well; return noodles to saucepan. Add cheese sauce and toss lightly to coat.

Makes 6 side-dish servings.
