Shrimp Creole

Ingredients

  • 1 c chopped onion
  • 1/2 c chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 c chopped celery
  • 1/4 c margarine
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes, undrained
  • garlic
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 3 T flour
  • 2 T water
  • 1 lb shrimp
  • 1 T Worcestershire sauce
  • Cooked rice

Preparation

Step 1

Saute onion, green pepper and celery in margarine. Add tomatoes, garlic, bay leaves; bring to boil. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered for 35 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Discard bay leaves. In small bowl whisk flour and water; add to tomato mixture. Boil, stirring constantly. Stir in shrimp and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.

Serve over rice.
