Ingredients
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 cups of apples
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
Preparation
Step 1
Mix all dry ingredients in a small bowl.
Peel and cut apples. I personally like to use 4 cups of honey crisp and 4 cups of granny smith apples.
Place apples in a large bowl of water with lemon juice. This will keep them from browning. Every once in a while mix apples to ensure they don't brown.
When all apples are cut, drain the water. Add the dry ingredient mix and gently stir apples until they are all coated evenly.
Place in pie crust and cover with pie top. Crimp edges and place small slits on the top of the pie to release steam. If a glossy crust is desired, lightly coat pie top with beaten eggs.
Bake at 425 for 40 minutes. Cool pie on wire rack
