Ingredients
- 2 - 3 cans green beans If using fresh, cook or steam
- 3/4 stick butter
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 3/4 - 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Fried onion rings and/or slivered almonds, optional
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter,onion, flour, mustard, salt, pepper and milk. Boil until thickened. Add cheese and stir until melted. Add green beans. Pour into casserole dish and sprinkle with almonds. Bake for 1 hour. Sprinkle fried onions on casserole during last 10 minutes of baking time, if desired.
