Macaroni and Cheese

  • Topping:
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 2 cups panko
  • 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • Main dish:
  • 1 stick butter
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 5 cups milk
  • 6 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 lbs macaroni

Preparation

Step 1

Mix the ingredients of the topping together well.

Melt the butter over medium low heat. Stir the flour in for 3 minutes. Wisk in the milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Simmer for 3 minutes. Stir in cheeses, pepper and salt to taste. Remove from heat and cover surface with wax paper. Cook the macaroni al dente. Reserve 1 cup of water and drain the rest. Stir macaroni, water and sauce- transfer to buttered 2 quart shallow pan. Sprinkle with topping. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes on 400 degrees on the middle rack.
