Ingredients
- 10 peaches,about 3 lbs.
- l c plus 1 tbs. sugar
- 1 tbs. lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 l/4c + 3 tbs. flour
- 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c vegetable shortening
- 2/3 c buttermilk
Preparation
Step 1
heat oven to 375 butter a 2 qt. baking dish peel peaches and slice toss peaches with lc of the
sugar, lemon juice, nutmeg and 3 tbs. flour put in baking dish combine remaining 1 l/4c
flour, 1 tbs.sugar,baking powder soda and salt cut in the shortening stir in the buttermilk mix
just until moist drop by spoonfuls over the peaches bake until top is golden brown and fruit is
soft and bubbling
