Slow Cooker Cherry Cobbler

By

"This is a fun way to make cherry pie with this very easy and simple slow cooker recipe."

Ingredients

  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup white sugar/double this amount
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

Coat the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray.

Pour in the cherry pie filling.

In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Make a well in the center, and pour in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla.

Mix until well blended. Spread evenly over the cherry pie filling.

Cover, and cook on High for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean.

Instead of preparing this with all the dry ingredients and vanilla - just put the can of cherry pie filling in the bottom, then spread a box of Jiffy yellow or white cake mix on top (DON'T mix anything in with it - just dump the dry mix on top) then pour on 1/2 to 1 c. milk and 1 stick of melted butter or margarine - DO NOT STIR. Cook as directed...

Excellent idea! I doubled the cherry pie filling (not the topping), I have a large family and I was using a large crockpot. FABULOUS! I also tried the recipe with regular canned peaches (2 large cans for a regular size crockpot), drained, adding 1 TBSP. of Bisquick & 1 tsp. cinnamon as a thickener.

Garnish with whipped cream
