Cherry Chocolate Kisses

Ingredients

  • 1 C unsalted butter
  • 1 C powdered sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. maraschini cherry "juice"
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 1/4 C flour
  • 1/2 C maraschini cherries, chopped
  • chocolate kisses
  • granulated sugar for sprinkling

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325°. Beat butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and salt. Mix in cherry juice and almon extract. Add flour and chopped cherries.
Shape dough into 1" balls. Using thumb, press each cookie in it's center until cookie is 1/2" thick. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Bake 14 minutes. Press chocolate kiss into center of cookies.
