Harvest Apple Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 4 cups finely chopped apples
  • raisins (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and butter together, add eggs and mix. Sift together dry ingredients and add to batter, blend. Stir in nuts, apples, and raisins. Pour into a welled greased 9 x 13 pan and bake at 350 for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 300 and bake for 45 minutes. Serve warm with Cream Sauce.

Cream Sauce:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter (do not substitute margarine)
1/2 cup of half and half
1 tsp vanilla
Cook together over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture coats the spoon. Serve warm.
