Ingredients
- 2 cups milk, scalded
- 1 cup grapenuts cereal
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup chopped dates
Preparation
Step 1
pour hot milk over grapenuts, cool. sift flour, measure then add baking powder, salt and sugar. sift again.
to the grape nuts mixture, add the beaten egg, melted butter, and chopped dates; blend well. add dry ingredients stirring just enough to moisten all ingredients. turn into greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. let stand for 20 minutes at room temperature, then bake at 350 for about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
