Applesauce Cake

A very old recipe of my Mother's

Ingredients

• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 cup chopped dates
• 2 cups flour
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/2 tsp cloves
• 1 cup chopped raisins
• 1 cup nuts
• 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 cup hot applesauce

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Beat the egg and add to butter mixture. Add applesauce with the baking soda added. Sift the flour, cloves and cinnamon together. Add to mixture slowly. Add chopped dates, raisins and nuts.
Pour in to greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees until toothpick comes out clean.
