Fresh Strawberry Pie

While Strawberry-Rhubarb pie is a classic recipe, this pie features fresh uncooked strawberries
- PIE CRUST:
- 1 1/4 cups (6 1/4-ounces) unbleached all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon table salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 6 tablespoons (3/4-stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 1/4 cup (about 1 3/4-ounces) chilled vegetable shortening, cut into 4 pieces
- 2 tablespoons vodka, cold
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- STRAWBERRY PIE:
- 4 pints (about 3-pounds) fresh strawberries, gently rinsed and dried, hulled (see note)
- 3/4 cup (5 1/4-ounces) sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Sure-Jell for low-sugar recipes (see note)
- Generous pinch table salt
- 1 tablespoon juice from 1 lemon
- WHIPPED CREAM:
- 1 cup cold heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon sugar

Santa Fe Pork and Black Bean Stew

This is perfect for the Instant Pot
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 pounds of pork shoulder, trimmed of excess fat, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 large onion, chopped (about 2 cups)
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1-2 jalapeño chili peppers, less or more to taste, seeded, stems removed-use 1 jalapeno only or it's hot!
- 2 Tbsp cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne (less or more to taste)-reduce to 1/4 tsp. cayenne
- 1 1/2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 red bell pepper, diced, about 3/4 cup
- 2 long 1-inch wide strips of orange zest (optional)
- 1 cup water
- 1 15-ounce can black beans (we recommend Bush's or S&W premium), liquid included
- More salt to taste
- 1 to 2 limes
- Cilantro for garnish
Broccoli with Bow Ties and Peas

- 1/2 pound farfalle (bow tie) pasta
- 1 1/2 cups frozen peas, thawed

- 3 russet potatoes, peeled, and cut into 1/2 inch cubes

Fresh Orange Cake with Orange Cream Cheese Frosting

- Cake:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- zest from the oranges
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream (Lite is okay)
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon pure orange oil
- Optional: 2 teaspoons Loranne's Buttery Sweet Dough Emulsion
- Frosting:
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 3 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 teaspoon pure orange oil (optional)
- 2-4 cups* confectioners sugar
- Add up to 8 cups of sugar, if that's your cup of tea.
Peanut Butter Cookies
