Choco Carmel Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 package German chocolate cake mix
  • 2/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 package caramels (about 45 pieces)
  • 1 (12 oz) package chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (I typically only use 1/2 of the bag)

Preparation

Step 1

Mix dry cake mix with melted butter and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Spread half of mixture in a greased 9x13 inch or 8x12 inch pan. Bake at 350º for 6 minutes.

Melt caramels with remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk.

Remove cake from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Spread caramels over the top. Crumble remaining cake mix on top. Bake at 350º for 20 minutes.
