Ingredients

  • 1 head yellow cabbage
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp prepared mustard
  • 11/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup vegetable/canola oil
  • Poppy seeds (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Chop or shred cabbage.
Stir in sugar
Slice onion in thin rings
Layer 3 times alternating cabbage & onion
Sprinkle poppy seeds lightly over top.

In sauce pan bring sugar, mustard, vinegar to boil.
Add oil and bring to boil.
Pour over slaw. Do not stir.
Refrigerate and let sit overnight.
