Ingredients
- 1/2 pound Brussels Sprouts cleaned and halved
- 2-3 strips of bacon cooked crispy
- 1-2 tablespoons of water or as needed
- 1 + tablespoon brown sugar
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Trim and clean Brussels Sprouts and cut in half. Set aside.
Fry bacon in skillet or saucepan over medium heat until crispy. Transfer bacon to a plate lined with a paper towel and let cool. Set aside.
Discard all but enough bacon grease to coat the bottom of the pan.
Add sprouts to pan and saute 3 to 4 minutes over medium heat until brown on bottom. Add water a spoonful at a time along with the brown sugar and stir to dissolve sugar. Cover and cook 5-8 minutes or until sprouts have softened and sugar is caramelized.
Add more water throughout as necessary to keep the sprouts from burning.
Crumple bacon and add back to pan. Add salt and pepper to taste.
