Baked Bacon Strips

These are great as appetizers. This recipe is originally found in Food and Wine magazine. I've just made a slight modification.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp chile powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Aleppo flakes
  • 1 package of your favorite bacon (applewood smoked bacon is great)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line 2 rimmed baking sheets with foil. In a small bowl, mix the sugar, chili powder and Aleppo flakes.
Place the bacon strips on the baking sheets. Sprinkle the sugar mixture on top of the strips. Bake for 20 to 25 mins. until the bacon is carmelized and just about crisp. Transfer the bacon strips to a cooling rack with foil underneath to catch the drip. Serve. Store at room temp.
