Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups blackberries
  • 2 cups boiling water

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cream 1 cup sugar with butter. Add flour, baking powder, salt and milk. Mix well.

Pour into 12 by 8 by 2-inch baking dish.

Pour blackberries over batter. Pour boiling water over top.

Bake 50 minutes until golden brown.
