MISSISSIPPI MUD

This recipe is from an ancient 4H community cookbook and is a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • ICING:
  • 2 sticks margarine (softened)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • dash of salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups chopped nuts
  • 1 (7oz.) jar marshmallow crème
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 box powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix first 7 ingredients and add nuts. Put in greased 9x12 pan and bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. While the cake is hot, spoon marshmallow crème over top. Let stand 1 minute and then spread. Let cake cook and top with icing.
